Judgment stays human where regulation or prudence requires: automated systems surface, evidence, and recommend, but adverse determinations and novel situations route to qualified people, with the system packaging the relevant facts. And the automation itself becomes a regulated object: models making compliance-relevant decisions need documented validation, monitored performance, explainable outputs, and change control — regulators increasingly examine the controls' controls. Institutions that internalize both boundaries get the durable win: compliance capacity that scales with volume, evidence that satisfies inspection by construction, and expert attention concentrated on the questions that actually need it.
